It is estimated that Queen Sheba travelled from Ethiopia to Jerusalem between 965 - 931 BC to visit King Solomon with a herd of camels bearing many spices, gold and precious stones. Queen Sheba is mentioned in several religious texts. In the Bible - Kings and Chronicles, it is believed that Queen Sheba is the bride in the Song of Songs. In the Quran, Sheba is known as Bilqis and she marries King Solomon. In the Ethiopian sacred text Kebra Nagast, Queen Sheba is known as Makeda, and their child Menelik is the founder of the dynasty that continued up to the last 20th century Emperor, Haile Selassie. There are many stories about Queen Sheba asking riddles of King Solomon to test his wisdom and of King Solomon tricking Queen Sheba into sleeping with him. Queen Sheba returns to her land and later, after visiting his father, Menelik returns with the Ark of the Covenant.
